Parallel Journal is a personal journaling app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
Your journal entries, partners, and photos are stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced through Apple's CloudKit private database associated with your own iCloud account. This is a private database by design — only you, signed into your own iCloud account, can access it. The developer has no access to your journal content, whether stored locally or synced via iCloud.
If you enable app lock, biometric authentication is handled entirely by iOS/macOS on your device. We never see or store any biometric data.
Photos you attach to entries are selected using Apple's system photo picker and stored the same way as the rest of your journal data — locally, and synced to your private iCloud database. They are never uploaded to any third-party service.
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We don't receive or store your payment information.
AI Reflection Companion is an optional, one-time purchase that unlocks setup instructions and reflection prompts for use in an AI account you create and control yourself — ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Parallel does not run or connect to any AI service itself.
The "Copy This Entry" button formats an entry as text and copies it to your device's clipboard. Nothing is sent anywhere by Parallel. Whatever you choose to paste into your own AI conversation, and how that provider handles it, is governed by that provider's own privacy policy, not this one. This feature is off unless you purchase and use it.
